A Few New Sites in the Beater Family
SkateMapsIt's with a sense of humility that I announce the very first of the new sites called
SkateMaps. Let me give you a little background before you place any judgement on this site. A good friend of mine asked if I could help him develop a new website. I agreed, because it was a really good idea. It was going to be a virtual yellow pages of skateboarding spots. It was going to include a Google map and a simple directory to help skateboarders find a good place to skate. You have to admit, it's a great idea. I helped him brainstorm a few ideas (rating systems, listing info, bust meter, etc..). I built the site, and he notified me that he had someone else build the site on the side. I didn't want to let my hard work go to waste, so I decided to launch what I had built. Personally, I think the site is really nice, and extremely user-friendly, and ergonomically, it is perfect for quick navigation.
Now, I know what you're thinking, "Nick is such an a-hole, he steals peoples' ideas and uses them for his own benefit." You couldn't be more wrong. I am launching this site with no intention of profit. All of the services are free, and I am not running any ads. I have some ad placements available, but I am going to use them for reciprocal links, not paid advertising. Plus, most of the guts to this idea were thought that I had with one of my other friends, who is a lifelong skateboarder, and the sites are very different in every way.
http://skatemaps.info/Master PriceCuttersThe second site is
Master PriceCutters. This was a site that I originally made for a customer who never paid for it. That was when I was young and stupid, and I let my customers walk all over me. Well, I decided to move forward with something that I always figured was a good idea, I just never acted on it. Now, what I have done, is I created a good place to sell sports memorabilia, and I cut the prices super low (cheesy business plug). If you are looking for certified authentic sports memorabilia, then look no further.
http://masterpricecutters.com/The Flopper GroupYou probably don't know this, but I work very closely with the
Flopper Group. They are an LLC that operates out of Scottsdale, and they cover a lot of products and services under their umbrella corporation. I recently redisigned their
splash page, and created 4 other e commerce sites:
Floppertronics,
Big Fat Cookie,
Flopperbilia, and
FlopperSecure. All of their sites are extremely user-friendly and can handle tons of traffic and sales. You should take a look, they are very cool.
Beater Magazine UpdatesAside from the Beater Magazine Beta Site, I have added a few new portals to Beater Magazine. Those portals include:
Beater Shop,
Beater Music,
Beater Radio, and of course the
Beater Spider (which is not publicly accessable). The Beater Shop will sell skateboarding products, and few other things that I think our readers will enjoy. Beater Music will be headed up by our resident music experts and should have quite a bit of good music information and ratings. Beater Radio is a live streaming portal; however, it does not record, so it may not be our #1 go to place for broadcasting. I just set it up in the case where we may start a radio station some day. The Beater Spider is a tool that I am using to make sure that any spam that hits the site is removed. We have over 4000 pages on our site, and to check every article for spam is literally impossible, and I am using this tool to help. It works similar to Google's spider, and I can adjust the parameters at my own discretion, which is nice.
